Malang, E Java, (Antara) - The funds obtained from the tax amnesty could be managed as per the sharia system, the Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Economist Association for East Java region, Chan Zaki, has said.
"It is very possible that the funds collected from tax amnesty are managed in the sharia way, as the system has specific values that other concepts do not have," Zaki said here Friday.
The unique values that will be gained if the funds are managed in the Islamic way are justice and people's prosperity, which cannot be generated from the conventional systems, he added.
The opportunity for a sharia economic system to manage tax amnesty funds should be encouraged by the government.
In addition, sharia should be separated from the conventional system in order to make the system work well and optimally.
"The management of tax amnesty funds by sharia should have alignments. For example, the government could appoint a sharia-based bank to manage the funds so the bank would have discretion," he said.
If there is no alignment from the government, there would be no value appears from sharia system, Zaki explained.
In addition, the system would be unable to compete with the conventional system-based institutions that are profit-oriented.
"The conventional system has caused numerous disadvantages because it does not have missions to bring prosperity to the people and no honesty," he said.(*)
